Midcentury with city views asks $2.2M

West Lake fixer-upper has guest house, original features

This split-level home on a three wooded acres in West Lake Hills has some issues, but it also has a lot going for it. It was built in 1950 and, while it’s been modified a bit and probably never followed the (rather strict, in our opinion) design parameters of midcentury modern design, it retains quite a few classic elements.

The exterior, cut-stone wall, for instance, is continued indoors and wrapped around a fireplace. There are original terrazzo floors, beamed ceilings, and big windows and glass doors with inviting outdoor spaces, all wrapping around swimming pool. According to the listing, there are city views from the second level.

In addition to the main house, which measures 3,165 square feet and has four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, there is a 928-square-foot guest house.

The guest and main houses are on 1.77 acres. The adjoining 1.26-acre plot is included in the price but sold separately.
