New mod home comes with optional detached studio

Shoalmont contemporary asks $1.2M

Not sure exactly what this is about, or if it’s included in the sale price, but the listing for this striking contemporary home, designed by Matt Fajkus Architecture, mentions that the builder will construct a studio in the back yard if the buyer desires.

It’s not like the sleek, modern house in the Shoalmont area of the Allandale neighborhood needs extra selling points (or space, for that matter) but there you go. The house, built this year, has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and measures 3,036 square feet.

With its asymmetrical, angled roof, clerestory windows, focus on the outdoors (especially in the back yard), and restrained landscaping, it fits in well with the neighborhood, which has largely midcentury roots. But it doesn’t try to mimic that style; instead, it’s pretty purely contemporary, with big open spaces, lots of white, white oak wood floors, custom cabinetry, white Caesarstone countertops, a penny tile backsplash, and deep, freestanding bathtub in its also-white bathroom.
