According to a recent report, Austin is the best place in the country for real estate investment and development opportunities, Austin Business Journal’s Jan Bucholz reported last week. The “Emerging Trends in Real Estate” annual survey results, released at the Urban Land Institute fall meeting in Dallas Wednesday, gave the city the top spot, Bucholz reported, though that designation comes with some caveats.
The survey of 1,500 real-estate professionals is conducted jointly by PwC, formerly PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Urban Land Institute, a nonprofit focused on land use, according to the article. The survey names Austin as the top spot for development investment opportunities, but the city ranks 11th when it comes to homebuilding opportunities, Bucholz added. Transportation and cost-of-living issues are limiting factors on those prospects, she noted.
