Rent comparison: what $5,500/month gets you

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person's studio another person's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $5,500 (more like $5,000–$6,000, as it turns out).

3404 Lafayette Avenue, three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom, 2,894 square feet, $5,500/month. A modern new build in the Cherrywood neighborhood, convenient to UT, downtown, and Mueller, this place looks to have many conveniences, as well as balconies, patios, and a yard.

1208 Grosvener Court, four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, two-story house, 3,251 square feet, $5,825/month. It's a bit on the high end of our price range, but it's a giant, family-style home in Rollingwood, close to good schools, shopping, and other conveniences.

4303 Red River Street, six-bedroom, four-bathroom, two-story house, 2,333 square feet, $6,000/month. This is new construction targeted at UT students, located on the edge of Hyde Park just a few blocks north of campus. It has a high-end kitchen, washer/dryer, and covered porch with outdoor kitchen.

Undisclosed address, two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium, 1,271 square feet, $5,500/month. This mystery condo unit is clearly located at the Four Seasons on the lake Downtown, despite its coyness about listing an exact address. As such, it has downtown views, high-end finishes, a fitness center, pool, yoga deck, and luxury services.

140 Granite Ridge Drive, Spicewood, five-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, two-story house, 4,662 square feet, $5,000/month. If you're looking for something different for your five-to-six grand, why not try a super-fancy hunting lodge/farmhouse on almost 20 acres in Spicewood? Pet policy allow up to five horses.
