Exquisite 1941 villa with views asks $4.2M

Graceful walled estate in Old Enfield

A gorgeous Old West Austin estate, you say? Although they’re not uncommon, somehow the mansions in the tony central neighborhood manage to distinguish themselves—probably because they were built from the early 20th century to 1940s, before cookie-cutter McMansions became a thing.

Whatever the case, this one’s another beauty. Built in 1941 and remodeled in 2015, the private, walled property has an upstairs deck that overlooks the city to its east. The main house measures 4,138 square feet and features four bedrooms, three and half bathrooms, and three living areas.

There are also new marble kitchen counters (and tub enclosure and some bathroom floors—lots of marble, in other words) and at least one fireplace that looks original and also involves marble.

There is a separate bedroom suite with a kitchenette, accessed through a private entrance. There are several outdoor living areas, and the back of the Spanish-style estate, with its rounded balcony overlooking pool and patio, seems a bit Old Hollywood.
