Georgetown ridehailing company ScoopMe will ride no more. According a Wednesday Austin Business Journal article, the small local business ceased operations Nov. 30.
Due to unexpected roadblocks, ScoopMe was a little late to the game when local startups swooped in to fill the void Uber and Lyft left when they departed in May, reported the Journal; the company had a hard time finding a company ridesharing insurance policy, for instance. It was unable to launch until mid-July.
The relatively late launch, combined with an inability to raise as much capital as some of its many competitors, made it difficult for ScoopMe to get a foothold with both drivers and riders, ABJ reported.
