Here are your New Year’s city closures and map, updated

Surprisingly (maybe), we have only one holiday street closure map for you, and that is for New Year’s Eve.

However, it’s good to note that many public offices will be closed and services suspended or changed in the few days.

City of Austin

City offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year’s holiday. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Jan. 3.

All recreation centers, senior centers, nature centers, botanical gardens, aquatic facilities, museums, and cultural arts centers will be closed on New Year’s Day.

City golf courses and Barton Springs Pool will remain open to the public during the holidays but will not be staffed on New Year’s Day.

Austin Public Library System

The libraries will be closed Jan. 1 and 2.

Trash pickup

Trash, recycling, and yard trimmings collection for Austin Resource Recovery customers will remain on schedule during the week of New Year’s Day.

Travis County

All Travis County offices will be closed from on Jan. 2.

Texas Department of Public Safety

All driver license office locations will be closed from Friday to Monday.

Capital Metro

Capital Metro will operate on a regular Saturday schedule with the exception of the University of Texas shuttle and E-Bus service.

On Sunday, there will be no MetroRail, UT shuttle, Night Owl, or E-Bus service. Capital Metro will operate on a regular Sunday schedule.

Capital Metro’s administrative offices will also be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Austin’s New Year

The City of Austin will present Austin’s New Year (ANY) from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, at Vic Mathias/Auditorium Shores. Some roadways in the area will be impacted by the event.

In addition, the following roadways will be closed from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Dec. 31.

RIVERSIDE DRIVE

Between South 1st Street and South Lamar boulevard

This closure will go into effect at 2:00 p.m.

SOUTH FIRST STREET BRIDGE

Between Riverside Drive and West Cesar Chavez Street

This closure will go into effect at 9:30 p.m.

WEST CESAR CHAVEZ STREET

(Partial Closure)

Between Lavaca Street and MoPac Boulevard

Westbound lanes will remain open between Lavaca and Gudalupe.

SAN ANTONIO STREET

Between West Cesar Chavez Street and West 2nd Street

Local traffic will be able to access destinations within the closure area.

WALTER SEAHOLM DR.

Between West Cesar Chavez Street and West 2nd Street

Local traffic will be able to access destinations within the closure area.

SANDRA MURAIDA WAY AND B. R. REYNOLDS DRIVE

Between West Cesar Chavez Street and Lamar Boulevard

MOPAC BOULEVARD NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND EXIT RAMPS TO CESAR CHAVEZ
