Villa living, West Austin style

Land, lots of land, seemed to be the theme of last week's top home sales. Some are on big, big lots; others just seem that way. Also big last week were Hill Country views and swimming pools. Must be summer.

4409 Waterford Place, $1,386,000. Original list price: $1,475,000: Architect Steve Zagorski designed this Mediterranean-style home in the style of a not-so-modern Italian farmhouse. The property itself isn't huge, but it backs onto Brightleaf Preserve off Mount Bonnell Road and has views of Lake Austin. Two stories, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, 3,160 square feet.

8734 Chalk Knoll Drive, $1,190,000. Original list price: $2,109,000: Located in a gated community, this 4,505-square-footer has the terraces, patios, porches, and balconies needed to enjoy its Hill Country views, along with four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and a giant game room.

9901 Silver Mountain Drive, $1,300,000. Original list price: $1,275,000. Two stories, seven bedrooms, six bathrooms in 6,062 square feet on just over four acres. Located in the Lewis Mountain Ranch subdivision west of Sunset Valley and north of Circle C. Pool, patio, views.

3600 Serene Hills, $760,000. Original asking price: $799,000. A custom home on 3.9 acres in Lakeway, this 3,505-square-foot home has four-bedrooms, three-bathrooms, a pool, and Hill Country views.
