Fresh off its installation of new parking meters at the Zilker Park Great Lawn and Barton Springs parking lots ($5 a pop, maybe to guarantee you stay long enough to get your recommended daily allowance of outdoor time/money's worth?), KVUE-TV reports, the city will go for an encore in East Austin.
In the next few days, the city will unveil 93 new meters in an area along I-35 that is already bracing for a great flood of SXSW arrivals. Planned for an area bounded East 11th Street on the north, I-35 on the west, Chicon Street on the east, and to Lady Bird Lake on the south, according to KVUE.
A Parking and Transportation Management District (PTMD) agreement with the city stipulates that 51 percent of the revenue will go to neighborhood improvements, KVUE added.
