Unique Mod Lake Austin Home in Lush, Inviting Setting Asks $5.95M

1968 house spans two lots and a wet-weather creek

When it popped up a few days ago, this listing intrigued with its description of a 1968 lake house that spans two lots and a stream (who can hear "house over stream" and not think "Fallingwater" for at least a second?). Unfortunately, the listing featured photos of only the back of the home and the lake it fronts.

Thankfully, intrepid local Realtor and modern-style aficionado Creede Fitch went digging into old listings and found some old interior and front shots.

Understandably, the property itself—1.7 acres with waterfalls and more than 200 feet of Lake Austin frontage and the aforementioned, wet-weather creek—seems to take center stage here.

Sellers are most likely leaving the option of demolition of the 2,034-square-foot house and new construction open in potential buyers' minds; the lot can certainly handle a larger house, as is currently the fashion, than this three-bedroom, two-bathroom beauty. One can hope, though, for restoration of the loosely midcentury, unique and lovely home instead.
