Now in its sixth year, upstart group QueerBomb will be celebrating with a parade, rally, and celebration Saturday night.
QueerBomb organized as an alternative to the annual local Gay Pride parade and celebration, which traditionally took place in June, as it does in much the rest of the country.
According to its Facebook page, QueerBomb is "a family of LGBTQIA individuals gathering to reclaim the radical, carnal and transgressive lineage of our ever-changing community while celebrating every facet and form of our people as a unique and vibrant whole."
The Saturday night event, which starts at 6 p.m. with a rally at Fair Market, will include a parade starting around sunset. There will be no official street closures, but Austin police officers will escort the parade and direct traffic onsite as needed.
