Quietly Fab Tarrytown Home With Two-Story Guest House Asks $1.2M

1948 house with distinctive updates

We viewed this Tarrytown house on a home tour last fall and were thoroughly impressed. It's the kind of place that doesn't wear its specialness on its sleeve, instead letting it unfold as you meander through. If there's such a thing as being modestly fabulous, this house is that thing.

Built in 1948 and renovated thereafter, the house's total size is 2,444 square feet. The main house in front has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, along with original hardwoods and distinctive updates—it's both mod and classically debonair.

In back is a lovely, old-school pool (i.e., no infinity edge, fountain, or waterslide), along with the pleasant surprise of a detached, two-story guest house with bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a big room below—all of it sunny and light, making it feel a bit like somewhere you'd hole up to write a novel or design a minimalist cathedral.
