Austin rent comparison: what you get for $1,800/month

1900 Barton Springs Road, "junior" one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, 887 square feet, $1,759/month. This brand-new apartment in the Zilker on the Park complex in Barton Hills epitomizes the appeal of New Austin. Pets are not mentioned.

1901 West 40th Street No. A, two-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex, 900 square feet, $1,800/month. A detached duplex built in 1955, this home in the Rosedale neighborhood has refinished hardwoods, wood blinds, fresh paint and an updated kitchen, including stainless steel refrigerator/range/microwave. Two bedrooms with shared bath off master and kitchen. Fenced front yard and one-car carport. Listing doesn't mention pets.

Stone patio, nice yard with sprinklers and garden. Utility room with washer/dryer in carport. Cottage on property is rented/utilities split. No mention of pets.

5814 Orland Boulevard, four-bedroom, two-bathroom house, 1,475 square feet, $1,800/month. The rare large, South Austin home for rent, this brick house is newly remodeled and includes washer and dryer. Cats and small dogs are allowed.

4711 Spicewood Springs Road, two-bedroom, two-bathroom loft, 1,360 square feet, $1,785/month. This Northwest Hills unit is in a gated community close to Bright Leaf Preserve. It has wood floors in the living areas, an upgraded kitchen with granite counters, and many large windows with treetop views. Small dogs allowed.
