Many people in Austin might not have even been aware that we already had a luxury private plane rental company, but now, according to the Austin Business Journal, we’ve acquired a second.
The Journal reported that locally based Envi Airways will be the second company to offer such flights, starting trips from Austin to Dallas (and presumably back as well) later this year.
Flights from Austin Executive Airport in Pflugerville to Dallas Love Field will be available Monday through Thursday starting Nov. 14, ABJ reported. It added that service will be based on demand and that tickets currently start $249.
Tower Aviation is the Federal Aviation Administration-certified air carrier for the service, for which Envi is the marketing arm, the Journal explained; the carrier will use King Air executive aircraft. Travelers will pay no luggage fees, there will be no security checkpoints, and food and drink will be complimentary on flights, the story added.
Envi will also have a route between Houston and Dallas, according to the Journal. The story noted that a different airline, Texas Air Shuttle, had been flying from Austin Executive Airport to the Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio metros since early August; it added that the Conroe-based company sells customers all-you-can-fly memberships starting at $1,895 per month rather than individual tickets.
