Rare mod East Riverside pad is quite the showstopper

Ornamented 1964 home feels lavish for $759K

It’s hard to know where to start when describing this home in the East Riverside neighborhood, just southeast of downtown. But "over the top" wouldn’t be too far off the mark.

It’s not over-the-top in a McMansion way, though, but in a distinctive fashion that some might find quite beautiful. It was built in 1964, and it has some midcentury lines and features—including a lovely aqua-and-white pavilion/arbor for a side patio—but the details are all ornamental grillwork, concrete fountains, marble floors, and chandeliers in the closet.

The 2,670-square-foot home is on a half an acre overlooking the city skyline, within walking distance of the Town Lake trail and convenient to downtown. It has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and lots of living and entertaining space, one of which includes a fireplace. There is also an unfinished, 800-square-foot apartment above the garage that could be nicely finished out, along with a big expanse of backyard.
