Austin rent comparison: what you get for $1,350/month

2717 South Lamar Boulevard, one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, 641 square feet, $1,335/month. An apartment in a new mixed-use community formerly known as Cielo South Lamar (the street where it is, in fact, located), this space updated in contemporary style, with stainless appliances and granite countertops. It's in a great location for both outdoorsy and social experiences. Cats and both small and large dogs allowed.

1187-1/2 Oakgrove Avenue, one-bedroom, one-bathroom house, 544 square feet, $1,350/month. Located in the Rosewood neighborhood, this Eastside home his home has an open floor plan; skylights; lots of closet storage; a gas stove, new refrigerator, and dishwasher; and hookups for a full-sized washer and electric dryer. There's a big, fenced yard and a patio that comes with furniture. No mention of pets.

2716 Barton Creek Boulevard, one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo, 775 square feet, $1,339/month. This luxe-looking condo in exclusive-ish Barton Creek is in a complex that sounds like it pulls out all the stops, amenities-wise, and features things like granite countertops, mud rooms, and Hill Country or Greenbelt views. Some units have private pet yards, and the listing notes that it's a "pet friendly community."

931 East 56-1/2 Street, one-bedroom, one-bathroom house, 572 square feet, $1,375/month. A small, cute 1940s cottage with hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen, and bedroom, this house on the eastern edge of the North Loop neighborhood also advertises its oversized windows, fenced yard, and washer-dryer. Pet policy not mentioned.

11400 Domain Drive, studio apartment, 610 square feet, $1,366/month. Residences at the Domain is a literal name for the complex where this studio is located. All of the shops and restaurants in the mixed-use, North Austin complex are available, and you can hop on a nearby freeway if you want to visit other parts of town. Cats and small dogs are allowed.
