Mod new home in Tarrytown asks $1.8M

This elegant contemporary really gets the indoor/outdoor thing

The understated front of this new build in Tarrytown belies the airy, stretched-out space behind it. The entire home has been designed around a gigantic burr oak in back; its back wall really is one big window, and a 40-foot, telescoping glass door can be flung wide open to access the ample back deck and yard.

The 3,872-square-foot home features walnut cabinetry, rift sawn oak floors, Spanish porcelain tile, Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures, Miele appliances, and all sorts of other covetable finishes and design touches.

Yes, one could live a sedate, quiet life in its five bedrooms and five bathrooms (with gorgeous tile work and giant tubs and showers). It even looks like it has a vast network of shades for all those windows when you want some privacy. But with its long bars, open-plan layout, multiple seating areas, lower-level lounge, and fantastic back deck, it could really do with a party or two.
