What it costs to buy in Central East Austin right now

Transitioning neighborhood is still a mixed bag

For our ongoing series Homes in the Range, real-estate analytics site NeighborhoodX is taking a close look at sales prices ranges in different Austin neighborhoods.

Today's analysis focuses on Central East Austin. As the city defines it, Central East Austin comprises several smaller neighborhoods; it's bounded by I-35 on the west, Chicon Street/Northwestern Avenue on the east, East Seventh Street on the south, and the East Martin Luther King Boulevard on the the north.

The current average price for the neighborhood is $336 per square foot, although it ranges from $226/square foot (1315 Comal Street, a three-bedroom single-family home asking $540,000) to $585/square foot (2302 East 11th Street, a sweet but small bungalow asking $395,000).
