What it costs to buy in Northwest Hills/Far West right now

A range of prices in an established neighborhood

In an ongoing series for Curbed Austin, real-estate analytics site NeighborhoodX is taking a close look at sales price ranges in different neighborhoods. Today, it's checking out numbers in the Northwest Hills /Far West area.

Northwest Hills is bounded by MoPac on the east, state Highway 360 on the west, RR 2222 on the south, and Spicewood Springs Road on the north. As the name implies, it's in the hills overlooking Lake Austin, and home to a mix of middle- to upper-middle-class residents who are attracted to the views, recreation opportunities, and easy access to retail, restaurants, and entertainment in almost every direction.

The current average asking price is $252 per square foot. However, behind that average, the asking prices for individual properties ranges from $205/square foot (3840 Far West Boulevard #108, a 998-square-foot condo asking $205,000) to $383/square foot (4103 North Hills Drive, a large, single-family home asking $1.2 million).
