What it costs to buy in Crestview right now

Market notes on an old dairy farm

In an ongoing series for Curbed Austin, real-estate analytics site NeighborhoodX is taking a close look at sales price ranges in different neighborhoods. Today, it’s checking out numbers in Crestview.

While it’s considered central today, the Crestview neighborhood was developed on the site of an old dairy farm by A.B. Beddow in the 1950s and early 1960s and has the feel of an early suburb. Crestview is bordered by West Anderson Lane to the north, Burnet Road to the west, Justin Lane to the south, and North Lamar Boulevard to the east.

Crestview is a fairly close-knit, solidly middle-class neighborhood fond of its iconic Austin businesses, such as the Minimax grocery store (recently sold) and Top Notch hamburgers. It’s located on a MetroRail stop and is surrounded by businesses just outside its mostly residential core.

The current average listing price in Crestview is $319/square foot

However, the individual properties that comprise that average range from $240/square foot (1800 Piedmont Avenue, a duplex asking $525,000) to $400/square foot (1311 Aggie Lane, a small 1950s house asking $375,000).
