What it costs to buy in Barton Hills right now

New construction, midcentury homes, and condos mix and mingle

In an ongoing series with Curbed Austin, real-estate analytics site NeighborhoodX is taking a close look at sales prices ranges in different Austin neighborhoods.

Today's price comparison is for Barton Hills, the southwest-central area that runs in that direction from Lady Bird Lake along Zilker Park between MoPac/Barton Springs on the west and Robert E. Lee Road/Rabb Road Rae Dell Avenue and South Lamar to the east, capping off at highways 290 and 71 on the southwest.

The current average listing price for Barton Hills is $352 per square foot, although the individual properties that make up this average range from $247/square foot (3211 Nancy Gale Drive, a 1962 three-bedroom house) to $496/square foot (new construction at 2902 Cedarview Drive.)

The upper end of the price range seems to be occupied by houses, while the properties at the more affordable end of the range seem to be primarily condos (with the exception of 3211 Nancy Gale Drive.).
