Austin rent comparison: what you get for $1,550/month

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person's studio another person's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $1,550.

State House on Congress, 1221 South Congress Avenue, A3, one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, 771 square feet, $1,536/month. Been thinking about the government a lot lately? Yeah, us, too. At the State House, you can go with a bit more localized focus in an apartment like this one, with a Briscoe floor plan. Located just off South Congress Avenue in the Bouldin neighborhood, the apartments offer a resort-style pool, a billiards room, and and other stately amenities.

6205 Hyside Drive #A, two-bedroom, one-bathroom duplex, 890 square feet, $1,525/month. This spiffy-looking place is in the Windsor Park neighborhood and thus close to all things Mueller. The newly renovated duplex features fenced yards, washer/dryer connections, a covered carport, granite countertops, wood vinyl plank flooring, stainless appliances, spacious closets, and updated fixtures.

11208 Canterbury Tales Lane, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, 1,442 square feet, $1,550/month. Well, it’s on a lane named “Canterbury Tales.” Is there really anything else you need to know? A two-story, single-family home with open floor plan, fresh paint, upgraded floors (porcelain and wood laminate), high living-room ceiling, utility room/pantry, covered patio, garden tub, and fenced back yard, this Far South home in the Canterbury Trails neighborhood is ready for move-in.

2516 Enfield Road, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment, 1,068 square feet, $1,550/month. We’re sort of into names this week, so we thought you might enjoy a look at the Fontainbleu, the sort of old-school Tarrytown apartment you can imagine two career girls in the 1950s sharing after college. It has an open floor plan, reserved parking, and a common laundry facility.

Lanier Drive, two-bedroom, two-bathroom duplex, 1,674 square feet, $1,550/month. A remodeled 1967 duplex in North Central Austin’s Wooten neighborhood, this residence has a separate entrance and no common walls with the other unit. There are washer/dryer hookups, and yard service is provided by the landlord. Cats and dogs of certain breeds and under 50 pounds okay. One-year lease required.
