A $4M lakeside estate tops lists of home sales this week

It's time again for the High & the Low, a Curbed Austin column chronicling the most and least expensive homes sold in Austin in the past seven days. (Sales information gathered from Zillow, Redfin, and Realtor.) Let’s see what buyers and sellers bought and paid for this week!

Interestingly (or appropriately), this is the second week in a row that a house on Chateau Avenue nabbed top spot for home sales prices this week.

Like that home, this week’s top-priced property, located at 16004 Chateau Avenue, is all about the lake frontage and views. The private, gated estate on nearly our acres has 300 feet of deep water frontage and sweeping views of the lake, as well as a boat house and dock.

This week’s big seller departs last week’s stylistically, though, hewing in the direction of a European-estate rather than a contemporary build. Located in a gated community, it’s built of cut limestone and walls of windows, wood beams, spacious rooms with big views, and sweeping verandas and balconies. Within its highly manicured lawns and gardens are also outdoor living areas, a pool, and a spa.

The 8,493-square-foot home, which has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, was listed on April 12 for $5.2 million (plus $225/month HOA dues). It sold for $4.2 million on Jan. 17.

At the other end of this week’s home sales spectrum is a condo at 840 Burton Drive #211, in a popular East Riverside-Oltorf spot that sees steady condo sales. The one-bedroom, one-bathroom home measures 464 square feet.

It was listed on Oct. 8 for $85,000 and sold Jan. 17 for $82,000 (plus $207/month HOA fees).
