Weekend street closures: Formula One, Austin Heart Walk, and the usual tailgating

It’ll seem like nothing compared to ACL

Compared to the past two weeks of highways jammed with broken heroes on their last-chance power drive to ACL Fest, this weekend’s traffic should be a breeze—but not entirely without some road closures.

The annual Formula One championship race at Circuit of the Americas is the biggest event this weekend, but since it’s a few miles out of town, the central city will be spared save one Friday night closure.

The area around the airport, particularly on Hwy. 71, is another story, however: plan ahead for possible traffic jams when traveling through the area for the race, to go to the airport, or any other reason. And if you are headed to the airport from out of town, it won’t hurt to check out our guide to same before you leave.
