Thanksgiving street closures: Make way for the Turkey Trot

Annual run-walk fills Downtown and South Austin streets Thursday morning

While the weekend looks clear for Austin’s downtown streets (save the usual UT tailgating), Thanksgiving Day (you know, Thursday, Nov. 23) will see the runners and walkers fill the streets for the 5-mile run, 1-mile walk known as the Turkey Trot. More 25 years old now, the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot has benefits Caritas of Austin, having raised more than $3 million to support the nonprofit’s work to end homelessness and provide people with the tools and opportunities to succeed. Below is Downtown Austin Alliance’s list of where and when they’ll be in the streets (with plenty of time to gobble after).
