It’s of course tempting, always, to write off condominiums as a blur of bland, interchangeable residences, mostly cookies from the same cutter. That might have been the original state of this 1981 corner unit in the small De Saligny Condominiums complex in Old West Austin.

Nevertheless, between the staging and the personal touches brought by owners, the Clarksville home has wildly appealing curb appeal, even though there might not technically be a curb from which one can see it.

There is a beautifully landscaped courtyard and pool, and the unit has sunny rooms, a wood burning fireplace, and an attached two-car garage. By far the best feature, though, is the two-story library bookcase with a rolling library ladder, which makes us want to call for a fainting couch.

The 2,039-square-foot home has two bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a most excellent location with downtown views (and walkability).

The kitchen has a breakfast bar, a central island, and granite/marble counters.

The kitchen has a breakfast bar, a central island, and granite/marble counters, and upstairs are more inventive design marvels.

The back deck has what look like excellent downtown views.
