A mixed-use project that will include a 226-unit apartment complex with 2,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space is headed for a West Fifth Street location just west of downtown, the Austin Business Journal reported recently.

Developers Oden Hughes and CWS Capital Partners recently broke ground on the project at 1301 West Fifth Street: on a 1.6-acre lot that until recently was the site of an AT&T office building and fleet parking lot, according to the Journal.

According to ABJ, the project is valued at almost $29 million, and approximately 10 percent of its units (one-, two-, and three-bedrooms) will be leased at below market rates to qualified applicants.

Locally based Kelly Grossman Architects is designer on the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
