While Austin has several events and ceremonies around town in honor of Memorial Day, which is Monday, a major parade is not one of them.
Nevertheless, there will be central street closures Monday; it’s the day of the Life Time Tri CapTex triathlon. The event starts with a swim in Lady Bird Lake, followed by a bike race to Capitol, back through downtown. Contestants switch to the bicycle leg of the race at the South First Street bridge and speed (or just pedal, depending on their division) through Butler Park and by Palmer Events Center before finishing and celebrating at Auditorium Shores.
