What does it cost to buy a home in the Govalle neighborhood right now?
In an ongoing series with Curbed Austin, real-estate analytics site NeighborhoodX took a close look at the range of sales asking prices per square foot in the area to find out.
Govalle is bounded by the river on the south, while Airport Boulevard is its eastern boundary, and Webberville and Pleasant Valley roads form the western side. It’s capped off by a small stretch of Oak Springs Drive to the north.
While it is an eclectic area full of art studios; small, older homes; and restaurants old and new along the river, it is also one of the city’s Eastside neighborhoods that is feeling the increasing pressures of the booming city, as housing prices push more buyers into once-affordable areas, in some cases displacing traditional residents of multiple generations.
The current average asking price in Govalle is $313 per square foot. However, the individual properties that make up this average range from $209 to $514/sq.ft.
At the more affordable end of the price range, 3004 Castro Street asks $209/sq.ft., while 1007 Gullet St. is $514/sq.ft.
