Here’s a listing that will cause the heart to race a bit, if that heart is a steadfast lover of midcentury modern design. For aficionados of local architectural history, the fact that it’s for a home designed by R. Gommel Roessner is the cherry on top.

Roessner taught at the University of Texas School of Architecture from 1948 to 1982; as many such professors do, he also had his own architectural practice. An article in Docomomo by nonprofit Mid Tex Mod board secretary Kelly Little notes that Roessner was “lauded for his ability to design open-plan Modern spaces that managed to create a feeling of privacy for his clients.” She also notes that he tried to imbue his designs with the “feel” of Texas.

This particular Roessner-designed home was built in 1964 and featured in Architectural Digest in 1968, according to the listing. A richness of materials is sustained throughout the 6,003-square-foot home with the distinctive use of redwood, tinted glass, handmade brick, and copper.

The house has four living rooms and two dining rooms, with 18-foot ceilings and generous windows facing lush foliage outside.

Each room has a balcony or terrace, and the home is arranged around courtyards and outdoor spaces.

The home has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
