Green home with mod vibe asks $1.1M

South Austin contemporary does energy efficiency with style

Since term “green” can be pretty hard to define when it comes to private residences (even if we go ahead and exclude its definition as a color), this home has a lot more cred in that area than most.

According to the listing, it has LEED Platinum certification and five-star rating from Austin Energy Green Building. While those ratings aren’t the final word on a home’s energy-saving and sustainable features, they do indicate at least the presence of those two things. The most visible (and exciting) of these features include a rainwater collection system and a electric-car charging station.

In terms of overall space and design, this Zilker home has a lot going for it as well. Built in 2011, it consists of a 1,376-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom main house, in addition to a two-car garage with downstairs flex space (including full bathroom) and a 525-square-foot, one-bedroom efficiency upstairs.
