Rent comparison: what $3,200 will get you

Finds in Travis Heights, Northwest Austin, Downtown, Zilker, and Crestview

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person’s studio another person’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today’s price: $3,200.

215 Leland Street, four-bedroom, two-bathroom house, 2,053 square feet, $3,250. This single-family home in Travis Heights is a block from the South Congress shopping/dining/entertainment bustle. Built in 1933, it has many updates but retains some original features, such as wood floors and exposed shiplap walls.

The Monarch, 801 West Fifth Street Unit 2208, two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment, 1,374 square feet, $3,215. A unit in the 29-story Monarch building, located a few blocks from the lake and other exciting stuff, will be the representative luxury Downtown rental for this week’s Curbed Comparison. This condo-style unit has the expected high-end finishes and details, views, and balcony, as well access to upscale building amenities, including a 24-hour concierge. Pets are allowed.

Undisclosed address, four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom condo duplex, 2,328 square feet, $3,200. The location for this two-story duplex condo unit is officially “undisclosed,” but there’s an address in the listing that puts it solidly in Crestview. The unit is brand-new and has never been lived in. Some of its features include all-new stainless appliances, high ceilings, recessed lighting, a laundry room, a two-car garage, and a private, fenced yard.

5708 Trailridge Drive, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, 1,500 square feet, $3,200. A single-family home located in central Northwest Austin, just west of MoPac and north of FM 2222, this single-family home was built in 1956 and remodeled in 2008. It’s on a large lot and has a fenced backyard, a laundry/mudroom with a washer and dryer, and a two-car garage. The owner pays for monthly yard and pest service. Pets are allowed.

The Talisman, 1501 Barton Springs Road Apt. 239, two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo apartment, 1,384 square feet, $3,200. Located in a Zilker neighborhood complex built in 1982, this condo unit looks to have been updated fairly recently. It has city views, hardwood and tile floors, a deck, and an attached, one-car garage.
