When we last visited this charming, inventively designed home in Spicewood, we immediately made note of its unusual origin story: a Houston decorator, working with architect Charles Travis and designer John Saladino, decided one roomy log cabin is better than three small ones, and this cozy-but-roomy-looking home is the result.

Sited on 4.7 private, wooded acres on the waterfront of a Lake Travis cove, the 3,062-square-foot house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It features 17-inch-plank reclaimed wood, a massive stone fireplace (one of two on the property, both wood-burning), a cook’s kitchen with commercial stove and stainless-steel countertops, a screening room, and a sweet screened-in porch.

Amenities on the lush property are plenty and include a casita and guest house, a workshop, landscaped gardens, and a cascading stone swimming pool. Accessed by a private road in a gated community, it also has a two-car garage and a carriage house.
