Weekend street closures: Holidays are happening

In addition to some spontaneous traffic jams that might be caused by holiday-light looky-loos this weekend, there are two official street closures, both on Saturday, to take note of.

On December 1, the Holiday Stroll, Sing-Along and Tree Lighting will take place at the state Capitol and along part of Congress Avenue. In addition to musical performances from Austin favorites and headliners The Polyphonic Spree, there’s a countdown to the Capitol tree lighting, followed by family-friendly activities accompanied by food trucks and artisan vendors.

Also on Saturday is a fun run and festival (i.e., afterparty) celebrating Austin’s traditional Trail of Lights in Zilker Park.
