Lime, the California-based dockless-vehicle company, has been ordered to pull 1,000 of its 5,000 electric scooters from downtown Austin, KUT reported Thursday.
On Tuesday, the NPR station website reports, the Austin Transportation Department issued a memo directing Lime to cut its Austin fleet by one fifth on Tuesday. The city made the order in response to what it termed a violation of the two entities’ agreement after Lime put more than 500 scooters on downtown streets.
Lime can apply to redeploy the 1,000 scooters after 30 days in good standing, according to the memo.
