Alamo Drafthouse, the groundbreaking, Austin-born theater chain, will anchor the second phase of a new Cedar Park development. The second phase of the Presidio master-planned community will include a 45,000-square-foot Alamo Drafthouse theater with feature 10 screens, 950 luxury recliners, and a full-service restaurant and bar with 40 local craft beers on tap. While the Alamo Lakeline near Leander comes close, the Presidio Cedar Park location will be the chain’s first Austin-area location that’s outside city limits and the seventh in the area.

Founded in a tiny downtown theater in 1997, the Alamo Drafthouse became wildly popular due to its inimitable mix of arthouse, fanboy/girl-focused, and first-run films, along with filmic oddities such as found footage, special events, and a full menu of food and drink offerings—often one-offs that matched the movie beings screened—to be enjoyed during the film.

The inclusion of an Alamo theater in the Presidio development was part of an incentive package totalling a maximum $1.5 million between Cedar Park and Austin-based lead project developer Riverside Resources. The deal specifically requires that Alamo Drafthouse be part of the second phase of the development. The theater chain recently signed the lease for the new theater, allowing the whole project to move forward and Riverside Resources to be reimbursed for infrastructure improvements associated with the second phase.

Other components include 90,000-square-feet of office space and additional retail/restaurant space. The theater is expected to break ground in the spring of 2019 and open in the summer of 2020.
