Maybe it’s a matter of becoming desensitized, or maybe it’s because there’s less annotation (or perhaps it’s the color coding!), but the city’s map for the 2018 SXSW Conferences and Festivals looks slightly less daunting this year.
Nevertheless, the street-closure map for the 2017 “Spring Festival Season,” as the city calls it, is just as intricate and daunting as ever. As in previous years, large swaths of downtown will be, um, challenging to navigate for at least some hours every day between Friday, March 9, starting at 7 a.m. 7:00am until Sunday, March 18, at 11:45pm. By which point, everyone will be gone, exhausted, or both.
In addition to the closure map below, City Stage (the city’s branded events site) has an interactive map where one can filter festival travel information by date and select data layers, including applicable Capital Metro routes, special routes, and stops, as well as locations of Austin B-Cycle kiosks.
