Marfa comes to Austin for a change

Minimalist East Side home asks $475K

“That looks like a house in Marfa” is probably the first thought many Austinites have after catching sight of this home. So it’s not surprising that that its desert-style minimalism is being marketed exactly that way. Although it would look a little more authentic with no front fencing and a gravel yard instead of the lush grass that now surrounds it, the one-story home, flat of roof and spare of detail, does indeed seem to capture that Far West Texas feel.

Located in East Austin’s Holly neighborhood, the 1,380-square-foot home has two bedrooms and one bathroom. Sited on a corner lot, the house is shaded by mature pecan trees but looks like it allows in quite a bit of light through its generously sized windows. The simple and striking style continues throughout the house, with provides an open kitchen, dining space, and living area on one side linked via a hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom.

The home has concrete floors throughout and stainless appliances in the open kitchen.

Public and private areas of the house are linked by a long hallway, and bedrooms look out on to a fenced backyard and patio.
