Street closures are light this weekend, which is good, since the city could use the downtime. Aside from the usual Sustainable Food Center Farmers Market, which closes a mere block of Fourth Street every Saturday, we’re looking a single closure, on Friday; during the anniversary gala for the Austin landmark the Paramount Theatre, “Congress Avenue will find itself transformed into the bustling streets of Spain” with tents and performers outside as well as performers inside the historic theater.
Paramount Theatre Anniversary Gala
Friday, May 11, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Congress Avenue will be closed between Seventh and Ninth streets.
Eighth Street will be closed between Brazos and Colorado streets.
(Both will remain open to emergency vehicles, of course.)
There will be a partial closure on Ninth Street between Brazos Street and Congress Avenue, with only local traffic allowed.
There will also be a partial closure on Congress Avenue between Ninth and 10th streets, of southbound lanes only.
