Unassuming house has a tree growing through it

1958 home features Live Oak in sunroom

The situation is confusing at first, no doubt about it. This cute if a bit outdated home, built in 1958, has a tree growing through it. The tree—a Live Oak, to be specific—is not growing through an outdoor patio roof that’s been built around it, which is common enough. Nope—it’s in a back sunroom room, sure, but it’s open to the rest of the house: Just off the kitchen, to be exact.

If that’s the kind of thing that excites you, you might be interested to know that the one-story, brick house measures 1,589 square feet and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Located on .27 acres in Travis Heights just off South Congress Boulevard, only 2 miles from Downtown Austin, it’s walkable to both that street’s attractions and beloved Stacy Pool.

While some would see a complete renovation project here, others will be charmed by such vintage features as the abundant wood paneling, the kitchen banquette, and the pastel period bathroom tile. It also has a fenced yard and a two-car garage.
