Built in 2017, this striking contemporary home has modern lines and subtle, sophisticated details that give it a classic gravitas with some refreshing twists and regional references. It was designed by award-winning local firm Baldridge Architects, which is responsible for number of stunning residences as well as commercial spaces such as Kimber Modern Hotel and the former Gardner/Chicon restaurant to its credit.

Baldridge’s website reveals that the midcentury references are intentional; its clients previously owned a house from the period in California and wanted a modern home in Austin, so the firm executed its interpretation of an existing 1959 bungalow in an homage that’s also forward-looking.

Located in the Zilker neighborhood just east of its boundary with Barton Hills, the 3,302-square-foot home was recently featured in Architectural Digest and Texas Monthly. Sited on a leafy lot under tall trees, it has a fenced yard with a swimming pool and landscape design by iconic Austin-based company Big Red Sun.

The home has four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
