Rent comparison: What $1,300 gets you

Choices in 5 Austin neighborhoods

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person’s studio another one’s townhouse? Let’s find out! Today’s price: $1,300/month.

Flamingo Condominiums, 1422 Collier Street, 525 square feet, one-bedroom, one-bathroom condo apartment $1,300/month. There’s not a lot of info in this listing for an apartment in the Zilker neighborhood, but since it’s a neighbor to (and possibly behind) the South Austin Popular Culture Center and near popular bars and restaurants on South Congress, odds are that living there is colorful and fun.

9412 North Creek Drive, 950 square feet, three-bedroom, one-bathroom house, $1,300/month. If you’re in search a single-family home with a yard and all that, this house in the North Lamar neighborhood might do the trick. It has new windows and exterior pain, a later model gas range in the kitchen, a large backyard, and a carport. Cats and small dogs allowed.

4104 Nitschke Street #B, 500 square feet, one-bedroom, one-bathroom detached-condo apartment $1,300/month. This Mueller apartment/duplex is technically a detached or freestanding condo, which means it doesn’t share any walls with the front unit. It was built in 2016 and is a garage apartment with tile floors, granite counters, ceiling fans, and a washer/dryer included. To find it, just look for the old Mueller Airport Control Tower. Cats and small dogs allowed.

4405 Pamona #B, 1,936 square feet, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, $1,325/month. This fairly large, single-family home is located in a Far North Austin subdivision called Champion Forest. It has ceramic tile throughout, washer and dryer connections, a garage, and mature shade trees.

Grove at Northwest Hills, 3517 North Hills Drive, 742 square feet, two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, $1,340/month. As the complex name indicates, this apartment is in the Northwest Hills neighborhood west of MoPac and north of downtown. Apartments have custom cabinets, built-in bookshelves, and walk-in closets, and community amenities include a billiards room, a pool and sauna, a clubhouse, and tennis courts. Dogs allowed (breed restrictions apply), cats allowed.
