Apartments in five central neighborhoods

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Today’s price: $900 (or thereabouts). Vote for your favorite below.

It looks like the staging team went to town on this 527-square-foot one bedroom in an apartment complex monikered Chandelier. Located in the Parker Lane area of the East Riverside-Oltorf neighborhood, the recently renovated unit costs $875/month and features granite-look countertops, exquisite wood plank flooring, and a washer and dryer. Chandelier, the complex, also looks pretty sparkly and has a pool and fitness center.

A one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment of the venerable funky North University style can be had for $900/month. The 700-square-foot space is located on a convenient, if busy, street in a duplex built in 1920 and has a covered porch, high ceilings, and parking and access from a back door. There’s also a picnic area back there.

This one-bedroom apartment in the South Lamar Village complex and priced at $915/month is diminutive (398 square feet) but looks like it has a well-designed layout and stylish finishes. Apartments have upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, walk-in closets, wood-style flooring, and washer/dryer units. The complex is conveniently located and has a pool, shaded outdoor lounging areas, a fitness center, and dog-washing station.

Mueller Flats Apartments are actually in Windsor Park, not Mueller, but even so are convenient and central. You can rent a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment measuring 504 square feet there for $918/month. Unit amenities vary; group amenities include two pools with lounge and grilling areas and a 24-hour fitness center.

The popular and convenient Northwest Hills neighborhood offers up a 611-square-foot apartment with one bedroom and one bathroom for $887/month. It features a wood-burning fireplace, rustic brick and plank-style flooring in the kitchen and dining area, and a breakfast bar and modern white appliances. The complex has the expected group amenities, including a pool surrounded by mature trees, a stone sundeck, and naturally landscaped areas.
