It would be better if this new condo, located near the burgeoning St. Elmo area in the South Austin neighborhood now called East Congress, weren’t so blatantly staged as a vacation rental. Nevertheless, it looks bright and large (1,663 square feet), with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a balcony. There’s also a gym and a pool in the complex. It’s renting for $4,000 per month.

A midcentury house with an architectural pedigree (designed and built by A.D. Stenger, sometimes called “Austin’s Eichler”) can be had for $4,000 per month as well. Located on a woodsy Barton Hills lot, the single-story, 1,288-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a stone patio in back.

A roomy home in Hyde Park will set you back about $3,995 per month at the moment (you can also rent the garage apartment in back for another $1,295 per month if you’d like). The vintage, 2,048-square-foot home has three to five bedrooms (depending on whether you want to use the formal dining room and/or the study as bedrooms) and two bathrooms.

Four grand a month will nab you a swanky penthouse loft Downtown—a price that can be negotiated if you sign a one-year lease. It’s another apartment that’s a little too obviously marketed for short-term rental, but it’s stylish, even so (and rent includes all bills except internet/cable). It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,395 square feet.
