Viva la Vida y más: Austin weekend street closures

Texas Book Festival, Austin Film Fest, and more

A city street with people dressed in traditional clothing for Dias de los Muertos, including people with their faces painted as skeletons and wearing wedding dresses and suits. One person has on an oversized skeleton puppet head.

The weekend sees a couple of big festivals concentrated downtown. Namely, we have the lit-celebrity-studded Texas Book Festival and the plain old celebrity-studded Austin Film Festival and their attendant street closures (below).

There’s also the always-fun Viva la Vida Festival & Parade Saturday, as well as some sort of soccer fan fest outside Scholz, the Cathedral School of St. Mary Fall Festival (which will close only an alley), and the Hunter 5K in Circle C.

On Sunday, Jo’s Coffee downtown will host its Ugly Dog Contest downtown. Is because Jo’s isn’t hosting the Nulo Barkitecture event (which won’t close streets) this year? We just don’t know.

Closure listings and maps via City Stage (which helpfully put all the downtown closures on one map).
