A contemporary-leaning blend of styles works for updated home built in 1950

It would be interesting to see what this house looked like when it was built in 1950, as it seems to have been somewhat transformed, stylistically, in its recent down-to-the-studs remodel. The listing calls it a “modern Craftsman,” and although it’s neither, its kicky blend of periods and styles holds together, making it stand out among the more traditionally remodeled 1950s homes in its Brentwood surrounds.

The 1,960-square-foot home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The ceilings have been raised, and vaulted in some cases. Large windows, light-colored wood floors, and white cabinets and built-ins bring in the as well as offering a connection with the leafy lot and mature pecan trees outside.

There’s a sweet, screened-in porch in back to allow even fuller appreciation of the private yard, in addition to a finished, detached studio that is not included in the home’s stated square footage. It’s listed by Juice Real Estate.
