Homes for lease in five central-city neighborhoods—which one would you choose?

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Today’s price: $1,275 (or thereabouts) per month. Vote for your favorite below.

A two-bedroom condo apartment asking $1,300/month seems like a decent deal for its location—on a Manor Road sweet spot in East Austin’s Chestnut neighborhood—even if does have only one bathroom. Measuring 800 square feet, it has wood and carpeted floors and comes with an in-unit washer-dryer and one parking space. Pets are prohibited (probably just as well, considering how busy Manor can get).

A 630-square-foot apartment in Old West Austin, this one-bedroom unit also has the disadvantage of being located on a busy street (Enfield) but appears to be buffered by a walled courtyard with a swimming pool, its parking lots, and deep patios and balconies. It’s been updated recently and is asking $1,300/month.

It’s located in a luxury community northwest of Highway 360 in the Davenport Ranch West subdivision, but this one-bedroom apartment will put you close to Westlake and its attendant amenities, the river, and the Hill Country. The 834-square-foot unit rents for $1,257 per month, and pets are allowed.

This fourplex apartment in Travis Heights offers some swell outdoor spaces and pops of color with its one-bedroom, one-bathroom units. They measure 500 square feet and have open plans, natural light, and engineered wood flooring throughout, as well as a new ranges and dishwashers. Cost is $1,300/month plus $50/month for for water and gas usage. Pets are welcome.

You can rent a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in the Mueller Flats Apartments (and therefore the central-city community of the same name) for $1,256 per month. The 920-square-foot unit comes with custom renovations and upgraded quartz counters, modern lighting and hardware, and washer/dryer hookups, as well as community amenities. Pets are allowed.
