A variety of homes for lease in five neighborhoods. Which one would you choose?

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Today’s price: $3,100 (or thereabouts) per month. Vote for your favorite below.

It’s the proverbial cute Hyde Park bungalow: a 1,170-square-foot house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, renting for $3,150 per month. Renovations have revealed shiplap and updated the kitchen and bathrooms. There’s a xeriscaped front yard on a not-terribly-busy street and a fenced backyard with a patio.

A three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment convenient to lots of South Austin amenities will run you $3,250 per month at the moment—or at least that’s what this 1,426-square-foot unit in (and on) South Lamar rents for that right now. The apartment features hardwood floors, an open floor plan, and a covered balcony with views of the Barton Creek Greenbelt.

If only living smack-dab in the middle of Downtown will do, you have some choices. Those include a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment at luxury complex the Whitley. The 1,070-square-foot units start at $3,191 per month. In addition to views and its prime location, the building offers amenities including a sixth-floor pool with sundeck and barbecue, a pet park, a yoga area, and, of course, parking.

Those who seek an old-timey Travis Heights vibe will find same in this two-bedroom, one-bathroom house, renting for $3,000 per month. There’s central-city convenience to be had in the 950-square-foot home, as well as the charm of exposed shiplap, vintage-type tile and bathroom fixtures, wood floors, and some reconfigured spaces that fit the vibe. There’s also a yard, and pets are allowed.

A large apartment in the Mueller community is renting for $3,154 per month, which will get you three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,650 square feet. The contemporary apartment kitchens feature granite countertops, stainless appliances, gourmet kitchen islands, washers and dryers, 10-foot ceilings, faux wood flooring, custom lighting, and ceiling fans.
