Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Is one person’s studio another person’s Shangri-la? Let’s find out! Today’s price: $1.6 million.
We recently featured this renovated 1938 home located in the Pemberton Heights section of Old West Austin. The one-story clapboard house measures 2,796 square feet and has four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as featuring a leafy yard and back deck. It’s asking $1.6 million.
The fairly rare traditional in Northwest Hills, this 3,513-square-foot, two-story stone house was built in 1988 but has been thoroughly renovated by David Wilkes Builders, with interiors by Meredith Ellis Designs. It has four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms as well as the luxury appliances, finishes, and fixtures one would expect from a high-end remodel. It’s on the market for $1.695 million.
A two-story new build in Zilker, this contemporary house four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,520 square feet. Designed by MF Architecture and asking close to $1.7 million, it features wood floors, lots of natural light, and a fenced, green yard with a deck and a lap pool.
Let’s take in some luxury with Downtown views, shall we? Located in the Austonian you will find a two-bedroom, two-bathroom luxury condominium asking $1.59 million. Measuring 1,819 square feet, it’s a corner unit with an office/library, a private terrace, and city views. Community amenities include a dog spa, a theater, managed guest suites, and poolside services.
Situated in a narrow strip of a neighborhood called Buffington Heights, which borders part of Rollingwood on the north and looks out over Lake Austin, this one-story, 2,413-square-foot house contains some unremarkable if high-end features and awkwardly staged guitars. But it’s located on almost half an acre of land and has a large deck overlooking its lush hillside backyard. It has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and was recently reduced to $1.57 million.
