Weekend street closures: Run, run, fun

5Ks and an independence celebration

While the temperature situation on Sunday is still touch-and-go (it’ll probably reach triple digits, so don’t get your hopes up), there’s no getting around our civic need to resume our seasonal 5Ks and other charity runs. We don’t want to get in the way of all the fall festival traffic, after all.

This weekend’s street closures won’t block much traffic—especially since they are all in different parts of town and they’re all on Sunday. Nevertheless, it’s good to keep be aware of them if you’re out and about Sunday morning.

The two runs taking place this weekend are: the annual Schlotzky’s Bun Run, a dog-friendly 5K run/walk and kids’s fun run, and CASA Superhero Run 5K and Kids 1K. Both are near and partly on the grounds of Domain or its Rock Rose counterpart.

Later that day, Univision Austin’s El Grito de Indpendencia’s celebration event on the eve of Diez y Seis de Septiembre will take place at the Capitol and on connected streets.
